Which internet browser can I use?
This site uses Frames and is compatible with most browsers including Internet Explorer for Windows/Macintosh, Netscape for Windows/Macintosh and Safari for Macintosh.
The On-Line Policy Manual is navigated through six menus located to the left of the page. Each section provides a district-specific table of contents. When the policy number is selected, the policy is accessed by opening a side bar containing additional information relating to the policy selected. Any legal references, cross references and additional links supporting the selected policy can be accessed from this page. When any of these items are selected it will access a single PDF (Portable Document Format) file for viewing. Simply click to close window and return to the policy menu.
When accessing PDF files on the Web, you have two options: opening the PDF file within the browser window, or opening the PDF file in Adobe/Acrobat Reader as a separate application. If your browser insist on downloading PDF's, you may have Adobe/Acrobat Reader installed incorrectly. For instructions on how to load Adobe/Acrobat Reader correctly, click on the following link- http://www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html and see Configuring a Web browser for Reader for your appropriate operating system.
Downloading the newest version of Adobe Reader may be the best solution.
You may also use the SEARCH button to find specific policy topics by number or title.
Policies that have legal references will contain a link from the side bar of the policy. When this link is selected, it will bring up a .pdf file containing the legal reference information. To return to the policy, just close the window.
Policies that have cross references will contain a link from the side bar of the policy. When this link is selected, it will bring up a .pdf file containing selected policy. To return to the original policy, just close the window.
What about additional information?
Some policy pages provide links to additional web sites related to the subject. To return to the site, click "Back" on the navigational bar of the browser or close window.
When printing a policy, single click anywhere on the policy itself and then select Print from your File Menu. This keeps the browser from printing the navigational bar and the policy page.
Policies were designed to be viewed with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768. If you are having trouble viewing a policy, try a different resolution of either 800x600 or 832x624.
How can I make sure the information I'm viewing is current?
To ensure that you have the most updated copy of your policy manual, please note: Your internet browser stores the pages you visit in a cache folder, so it can show them to you again without re-retrieving them over the Internet. Due to manuals being frequently updated, problems have occurred when computers were never turned off. (Computers reload themselves when restarted) You can simply "Reload" or "Refresh" your pages periodically and this will solve any updating problems (sometimes, restarting your internet browser will solve problems too).
